Every Architect

Click, Click, Click… hear that? its the sound of mice around the room. Every body is going on for hours and hours. It has been 3 hours in and yet your project does not seem to get anywhere.

You have this idea in your head about how the building needs to look like except, you just keep zooming in and out…nothing seems to take shape.

The deadline is looming over your head and you remember you requested an extension, so, no luck with another deadline extension.

But you have to get it done now because the fact is…. the work was due for last week.

As projects channel out from other people’s desks, Its crickets on your desk.

Always the last to get anything done.

Now this is where I used to be, Only that It was pencils, rulers, dividers and protractors in my first years of architecture school. And Yes…. It was “hand drawn only” back then and still is for some schools especially 1st and 2nd year.

But I hated every minute of it, and heck I slept off most of those grim nights

All this changed for me as we approached third year, when we were introduced to the digital world.

The ability to undo without need of an extra sheet of paper to waste

The Ease of duplicating work without re-drawing the same thing over

Experimentation with multiple tools, colors in one place which meant no budgets to worry about, like… getting a new piece of stationery that can make a bigger curve or a new set of color pencils…etc.

I just loved every bit of it and devoted my hours every single day to learn how the software works.

In my case, I happened to learn Archicad.

Unlike Autocad, this software allowed you to create a floor plan and Elevations would be created automatically for you.

This was revolutionary for me.

Projects that would take consecutive sleepless nights were cut to just hours of work.

And now, I dedicate time to equip more students and professionals to enjoy what it has to offer on youtube.

The best of which is it saves lots and lots of time.
